A Great Dane attacked this 7-year-old Pomeranian two weeks previous to the photo. That day, a veterinary surgeon had cleaned and sutured the wound, which extended halfway around the dog and several inches toward the head. Several days post surgery, large areas of the skin began to degrade and gangrene set in. The veterinary surgeon and the owner considered a second surgery involving skin grafting because antibiotic and topical therapies were failing.

Instead, as an alternative to antibiotics, the veterinarian sprayed the wounds with Centaur RPA Skin Care Solution and advised the owner to saturate the scabbed area four times a day, allowing it to air dry after each application. Healing was noted in 24 hours. The second photo was taken one week later. The owner continues to apply daily to discourage scar formation and encourage hair growth.
